Secrets – How to Make Time Work for You
“Time management” is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. Good time management allows you to work smarter – not harder – to get more done in less time, even when time is short and pressures are high. We all have tasks we need to complete in any job or endeavor. The question is how you approach these tasks.
Tasks can be divided into three categories:
A) important and urgent
B) important
C) routine.
Start in the morning or the night before. Make your to-do list, then put an A, B, or C next to the task on your list.
If you align your A and B priorities with your energy cycle, you’ll see you’re more productive. Work on your C priorities only during times of low energy consumption.
Time management is like the 80/20 theory. Focusing 20% of your efforts on A priorities to achieve 80% of results, and aligning that with your energy cycle, will bring you optimal productivity and a better quality of life.
Part of time management is learning to say no when you should. Honestly, you can say no in a nice way, like: “I’d love to do that, but I currently don’t have extra time for it.” If you don’t set your boundaries, other people will set them for you. Everyone will end up frustrated because either you don’t get to the task they want you to do or you don’t do it well. If you know it’s “too much,” say no. You’re not saying no to that person. You’re saying no to the task.
The conclusion is, we always want more time. But you know what? You have the time you have. The problem isn’t having more time. Instead, figure out how to wisely use your time. And then time will work for you.
